As a follow up of the recent anti-tobacco TV campaign launching ceremony
(on Friday, 10 January, 2014) by PROGGA, an editorial on the Daily Independent
on January 13, 2014 has been published with a view to inform people about the
amended tobacco control law. The editorial says, ‘another encouraging dimension
of the campaign is that five private TV channels would
telecast programmes to
create awareness against tobacco. Electronic media, having the largest number
of audience, can play a significant role in creating anti-tobacco awareness’.
The editorial also reads about the detrimental effects of tobacco use
and urged for effective enforcement of the amended tobacco control law along
with other measures like tax imposition on tobacco products to check its use
