Tobacco farming still continues in Rangpur division

With direct and indirect supports of Tobacco Companies, cultivation of tobacco still continues in increasing trend this season though its farming decreased during the past few years in Rangpur region, farmers and DAE official sources said. This in-depth story on tobacco farming is explored by

one of our ATMA members Mamun Islam published on state run news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) on 2 January 2014 . The local farmers said, "We cultivate tobacco as the tobacco companies encourage us directly or indirectly through providing necessary inputs, cost free seedlings and incentives with an assurance of lucrative prices".
